“Bongs not Bongos, Sets not Songos”

Emcee Joey SLLiks | Boss Ve 20 | Trumpet | Harmonica | Bong | Mouth Harp

Inspired by the Miles Davis Album Doo Bop, Boston’s Rich History of Public Busking, and Dub Style reggae. “Disposable Jazz” typically can be found in some city center of the Northeast, usually in front of some giant Mural or notable area Landmark, unfolding tables or lugging around self powered amplifiers and a wagon full of instruments. Initially the trumpet was a solo busking act, but in an effort to give those lips a break, the Boss ve-20 was enlisted to hold down the beat box jams. Before long a harmonica, mouth harp, the bong and improvisational lyrics became part of the sound.

Instead of the more traditional model of focusing on producing and publishing albums full of individual “songs”, Disposable Jazz takes an approach closer to what one might see in a classic HIP HOP DJ set with music created completely on the fly and often without the luxury of an actual venue, but instead with a myriad of random street sounds and ultimately as a statement against commoditized art and the sad but longstanding trend of artists, as people who have become products.
